“Be a small light in a dark room”
There are Many Ways to Share Your Stories
Your stories are what you leave behind following this life’s journey. They say you were here, this is what you did, this is what and how you learned and, most importantly, you mattered. There are many ways to share your stories and I’ll show you in this blog article.
Why Should You Share?
Your stories are incredibly important, even if shared with a few very special people, they are uniquely yours and in your own voice. They are wisdom and wisdom is not just information. Wisdom is insight, perception. It is what you take away from your experiences. Learning how to share your stories allows you to share your hard-won wisdom.
Wisdom is highly valuable and that value can be shared for the betterment of others. Some of your stories may be deeply personal and you need to choose carefully with whom you choose to share. Your instinct (gut) will tell you if you listen to it.
How to Share Your Stories
Share your stories by talking to one person or by making a speech given to a room filled with people. Or share by writing, whatever is comfortable for you. Share with one or two close friends or a community. Share your stories with small or large groups of specific kinds, there is no limit.
Mentor a youth or the underprivileged, a student, someone you know who is struggling with a similar story to one of your own. Sponsor a group. Simply share your wisdom, what you learned that can benefit others.
If even one person’s life is privy to your shared wisdom, that is a pebble dropped in a pond and will provide ripples of benefit to many. You see, that one person will now have a perception and insight she didn’t have before and her path, her interactions and choices, will be different with everyone she meets.
You went into a dark room and shared your light with her, she does the same, and soon the room is brilliantly lit. It takes only one and that can be you.
Sharing your stories and your wisdom brings more meaning to your own journey.
Excerpt from Story #2
“There was a pile-up of emotions all struggling at once to enter the doorway to my mind. My heart thudded and raced, my stomach fell, the hairs on my arms raised and little flames raced through my blood stream. No definable words formed in my brain, but tears found their way down my face”.
